Biography...

1981 - 85 Played drums in heavy rock band CADMIUM at the age of ten, with elder brother Andrew Young. Built a large following of headbangers in and around Macclesfield.

1986 Formed THE HOT BANANAS with guitarist/songwriter Fil Hill. Played drums in the band for three years.

1989 Formed THE MAGIC OTTERS with keyboard player Stephen Malkin and singer/guitarist Joe Kover.

1990 Studied acting at Salford College Of Performing Arts for one year. Formed psychedlic band BIG WHITE STAIRS (on drums) with brother Andrew (guitar). Played live gigs in the North west.

1991 - 96 Became singer in Big White Stairs. Formed own Independent label PERISCOPE RECORDS. Released two 10" vinyl 'EPs' and three 7" singles with Big White Stairs. Performed two live sessions on Radio One for the Mark Radliffe show. Engineered and mixed demos for numerous bands from the Northwest including NORTHERN UPROAR and WORLD OF TWIST.

1997 Formed shortlived glam/punk band SYLVAIN. Played monthly residency at the Dublin Castle in Camden London. Released gig only cd single 'D.N.A'

1998 - 2000 Wrote, directed and filmed 70 min science fiction comedy 'HEADS' in and around Macclesfield, and made 2 minute surrealist short 'ELECTRICITY' with CG artist Richard Perry.

2001 Studied at Vancouver Film School for ten months. Wrote and directed 16mm filmschool production SEAWEED.

2002 Wrote & directed 22 min dark comedy 'BLANK' in Vancouver with donated equipment and a small crew of aspiring Canadian film makers. Blank premiered at SLAMDANCE FESTIVAL in Utah.

2003 Wrote & directed 33 min surrealist horror 'HALY SAINT' with the same crew and equipment as previous film. 'Blank' shown at numerous festivals including KINOFILM MANCHESTER and the TORONTO ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL where it won best editing and 'Best Dark Edged Short'.

2004-2006 Wrote, directed and filmed 60 min marionette sci-fi movie ABSENTIA with puppeteer/model maker Bricky Burgess. Haly Saint shown at the first year of GLASTONBURY FILM FESTIVAL.

2007 Absentia premiered at the FILMSTOCK FESTIVAL in luton and the WATERFORD FESTIVAL in Ireland. Created psychedelic visuals for the Magic Otters live set.

2008 Directed and filmed three short music videos 'DARKENING CLOUDS', 'THE CRYSTAL MYSTICS' and 'THE SHOCK MACHINE'.

2009 Formed and played the drums in a new band called 'BREAKING.'

I'm planning to continue my artistic and musical endeavours throughout 2010!
